Before & after - color edition 06.13.2009

Ok, you saw some B&W Before & Afters the other day, so today I am going to share some color images. I didn't like how the animated gifs compressed the B&W files, so go ahead and jut roll your mouse over the image to see the massaged file.

But first... here's the thing about Photoshop... Photoshop is a wonderful tool to help enhanced images and make some fixes to an image... it's should never be what the image is all about. A bad photograph with lots of Photoshop work done to it is still a bad image, no matter how hard you try to rescue it from the dead. There's a saying in the industry that goes, "You can polish a turd all you want, but it's still a piece of sh*t".

We use Photoshop in my studio to make people look better, after all, we can all use some digital botox. Often we soften lines around the eyes, remove stray hairs, soften shiny foreheads, remove blemishes and occasionally drop a few pounds off of people (only if they request it). We also use Photoshop to adjust the color & contrast of the image to make it look interesting if not more accurate to real life. And lastly we sometimes play around with the images giving them an artistic flair by making the image look not so much like real life, but to give the image a different look that helps define our style and just make the image look different.

Anywho, as you can see, the straight out of the camera images aren't half bad... heck, I'm getting the hang of this photography thing! ;-) but as you mouse over, you'll notice that we just give the image a more finished look.

Note to clients & future prospective clients: I've always tried to treat the couple who hire me fairly. I charge for my time & talent to show up at weddings and capture amazing images for the bride & groom. It's my passion and I am blessed to shoot for some very cool couples all over the place. While I know I have to sell myself to my clients, I am not in the business of selling pictures. That is why I have always offered my clients the original DVD of high resolutions files in every single package, even the smallest one, at no additional charge. I figure, if they don't want to spend $18 on a 4x6, they are certainly welcome to take the files to a lab of their choosing and make their own prints. Or, if you want us to "do what we do" and give the files our TLC in Photoshop, we are happy to make those images for you and charge accordingly. It's up to you, no problem either way. Of course ever image that goes into your album gets the VIP treatment and will look amazing!

Note to photographers: Two words: Boutwell & Kubota.
