Devil's Thumb Ranch 11.06.2012

Last weekend I found myself in the Rocky Mountains west of Denver at Devil's Thumb Ranch for a wedding of another photographer. I met Mark Cafiero back in 2005, when he attended a photography workshop that I hosted in new York City and we have been friends ever since. Mark is a very talented photographer in his own right and I was honored that he chose me to document his day. I actually 2nd shot a wedding with Mark back in 2009. He's a great guy, an awesome business man, a good friend and now a husband to LK.

Here are a few of my favorite relaxed portraits, amazing details and real moments.

It was 24 degrees when I arrived on the property on Saturday, but thankfully it made it up to the high 40's by the time we were shooting the portraits. The property is absolutely gorgeous!:

I loved the non-tradional dress:

Nice boots eh?

She started with the heels, but switched to the boots after the ceremony:

Sadly, Mark's dog Gary passed away just a few days before the wedding, which I am sure was hard on him. Here's a quote from his FB status update on Sunday after the wedding:

"This has been the strangest week. Suffered the worst, gutwrenching pain of my life and the most incredible joy in my life, all within 4 days. I really don't know how to describe it. Exhausting, maybe. But one thing has been consistent between BOTH events: an endless flow of the most sincere and loving support I have ever witnessed or felt in my life."

I'm sure it was tough on him and the timing kinda sucked, but he told me that it was nice to have a few days to cry, then be comforted by his friends and family. His bride had some custom cufflinks made for him.

He cleans up alright!

Jim Kennedy, another photographer friend of mine, is one of Mark's best friends. They actually met at that NYC workshop I help over 7 years ago.

I love this portrait! I love how happy she is and that she rocked her own style!

I could have shot all day... it was so gorgeous. But it was so cold so we only shot a few minutes worth of portraits.

The reception took place in a barn on the property and had some beautiful details:
