Hey there! My name is Becker and I am a wedding photographer from Orange County, California who specializes in capturing relaxed portraits, amazing details and real moments for the coolest brides and grooms on the planet.
This blog follows both my personal and professional life, and features images from the weddings I shoot, the places I travel and the friends and family members that mean so much to me. It's basically like my own personal photo album combined with an information source for my current and potential clients and a source of inspiration and education for other photographers. This site is a little more informal and I just want to give everyone a sense of who I am, and what I am all about. Thanks for visiting.

Big news for California drivers. Starting tomorrow, if you are talking on a cell phone while driving you must use a hands free device or you'll get a ticket. I wonder if that will really help. I don't think it's the number of hands one has on the wheel that really matters... it's the paying attention to the road that counts. I wish cops would pull people over and ticket them for "driving like a schmuck" while talking on the phone. Hands free or not, distracted drivers are the issue. Some of my friends even send text messages while driving. Scary!
I've been driving "hands free" for a while now. I love this headsets for my iPhone:

An FYI to my clients: Kathleen is on vacation this week and will be back in the office next Monday, just incase you were wondering why you haven't heard back from her and you didn't get the auto reply via email.

I love traveling, but it is so nice to be home and sleep in my own bed, and use my own shower. Today I am busy catching up on emails and phone calls. I also have an engagement shoot that will be posted later this week.

Speaking of which, I think I'll be blogging my weddings the following Tuesday's from now on. I need to rest on Sundays plus the internet traffic is way down on the weekends.

iPhone review, one year later. The iPhones came out last June 29th, you may remember my friends and I camping out for them. All I can say is that it was certainly worth the money and I'll certainly getting a new one on July 11th. I use it for emails, text messages, the traffic updates via the maps all the time. I love showing my photos on it, the camera is actually decent, notes and the calendar come in very handy and the web surfing sure is convenient (and only going to get better with the new phone).

| my run in with the mammoth men |
06.27.2008 |

After hosting a little happy hour for Bay Area photographers yesterday afternoon, I hooked up with a few of my friends who were on the road trip of a lifetime. You have to check out the Mammoth Men Blog to check out their antics. It looked like an incredible trip and I am sure it is one they'll never forget.
Here's a shot taken at dinner last night. The hostess, on the left, asked the guys if they were in town for the gay pride parade when all ten of them walked into the restaurant. Hilarious! If you spend some time on the blog, and check out 80's roller skating night, you may wonder yourself.

| I visited the Mothership |
06.26.2008 |

The Vatican. Check
The Empire State Building. Check
The Eiffel Tower. Check
Red Square. Check
The Grand Canyon. Check
Apple Headquarters... I can finally put a check next to the mother ship... home to one of my favorite companies after I was invited to come hang out at the Cupertino campus.
It was really exciting for Jess and I to take a tour, have lunch and chat with some of the folks on the Aperture team. The don't allow photos inside the facility, but I had to post this shot Jess took of me outside. I wish I could have taken photos of the cafeteria... it was awesome! I was expecting them to serve Kool-aid, but they didn't. Weird eh?
We also spend a small fortune on Apple apparel since you can only buy it at the company store on campus, so I am sure you'll be seeing my new wardrobe soon. While we didn't bump into "Uncle Steve", it was still quite a thrill and something I'll never forget. Thanks MG! |

06.25.2008 |

| Yesterday afternoon, Gene Higa, Ann Hamilton, Jessica Claire and I walked around San Francisco's Chinatown for a little photo safari. I try to do one of these every time I travel, and we had a wonderful time just cruising around and catching up. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from the day: |

| I think this was my favorite shot from the day: |

| June 21st Wedding in Big Sur |
06.24.2008 |

| Here are some images from the midsummer's night themed wedding that took place on the summer solstice last Saturday in Big Sur, CA. |

| The faerie star was everywhere: |

| The groom, right before the ceremony started: |

| The locations was spectacular: |

| The Jackass crew, apparently a bit nervous standing so close to each other. There was an "incident" at the wedding that was hilarious and disturbing at the same time. unfortunately the images aren't suitable for my family friendly blog. Those Jackass guys are crazy!!!! |

| They wanted to recreate a scene where Titania marries Bottom: |

| Personally, I think she could have done better! ;-) |

This week I am coming to you from one of my favorite cities, San Francisco. After shooting in Big Sur on Saturday (check back tomorrow for the rest of the wedding photos) and shooting up this way this coming weekend, I just decided to stay in town and hang out for the week. What is there to do up here?

George Carlin passed away yesterday. I had the opportunity to photograph him and his wife when they went for a ride on the Goodyear blimp a few years back. He seemed like a very normal, laid back guy. Instead of being a foul mouthed comedian making jokes and off colored remarks, I just noticed that he was very sweet to his wife and absolutely cherished her. I wish I had the images handy but it was back in the film days.

I saw an interesting story on Bean's Blog that I thought I'd share. I usually just log onto QVC.com to get Jessica's birthday present, but this seem like a nice change of pace. Plus, this way I know I won't have to spend more than $10!!!! ;-)

Is there still time to get a measure on the ballot for this November's election? I'd like to propose a law that requires restaurants to ask before bring water with lemon in it. The default should always be no lemon, since once the lemon is in the water, you can't get it out and it just tastes like the didn't get all the dish soap out of the glass before they served it. It's certainly easy enough for to add a slice of lemon for folks who like that sort of thing (weirdos)
