so stoked to be home! looking forward to my own bed, shower & fast internet connection. although, i want to go to SXSW, but i have a wedding  |  Follow me

Hey there! My name is Becker and I am a wedding photographer from Orange County, California who specializes in capturing relaxed portraits, amazing details and real moments for the coolest brides and grooms on the planet.

This blog follows both my personal and professional life, and features images from the weddings I shoot, the places I travel and the friends and family members that mean so much to me. It's basically like my own personal photo album combined with an information source for my current and potential clients and a source of inspiration and education for other photographers. This site is a little more informal and I just want to give everyone a sense of who I am, and what I am all about. Thanks for visiting.

Wedding at the Royal Palms 03.29.2009

While in Phoenix last weekend, I had the pleasure of second shooting with a good friend of mine, Mark Cafiero from Denver. We shot an incredible wedding at the Royal Palms in Scottsdale. Jen from Imoni Events planned the entire affair and Table Tops, Etc provided the florals.

The resort is situated right below Camelback Mountain.

Cool purple shoes eh?

The bride was stunning:

A nice relaxed portrait...

... but I usually prefer the ones where they don't even know I am shooting:

The garden setting was beautiful:

Score another one for high school sweethearts!:

Um...this is going to take some getting used to!:

Mark in action:

Hello Arizona!:

And finally here's Mark showing off a fun little slideshow at the reception:

By the way, the groom is Chez Reavie, a pro golfer on the PGA tour. Check out this video of him making a eagle on the way to his victory at the Canadian Open. I'll be rooting for him at Augusta in two weeks:

A few more from Santa Fe 03.28.2009

Here are a few more images from my time wandering around Santa Fe. I really wish I had more time to explore, but I am hoping to speak at the Santa Fe Workshops sometime so perhaps I'll be back soon.

By the way, the The Encantado Resort was amazing. The rooms were plush, the service was excellent and the place was decorated with some very cool local art. But this piece in the bar, didn't seem to fit, but I thought I'd share with y'all anyway.

Photographers interested in hearing more about the workshop can check out my Blend Recap.

Hello from Santa Fe 03.24.2009

I am loving Santa Fe so far. It's absolutely gorgeous and the light is special. The workshop is going great, and we were able to sneak in to town tonight around sunset to shoot a few images and have a fabulous dinner at Cafe Pasqual's (Amazing!). I'll post more later, but the image above is of the San Miguel Mission and it is straight out of the camera, no retouching or enhancing in Photoshop what so ever.

Wedding at Spanish Hills 03.17.2009

This past Saturday I shot a wonderful wedding at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo. The bride was the younger sister of one of my grooms from 5 years ago and it was great being a part of another wedding for the Kelley family. Here are a few of my favorite relaxed portraits, amazing details and real moments from the day:

The bride got ready in the bonus room of the aunt's house and between playing foosball with the flower girls, I shot her shoes on the table:

Ya know how when you are a kid and your mom tells you that if you make that face it might freeze that way? Well I told the grooms sister if she kept making faces at me that I would put it on the internet. She didn't believe me.

I love this moment:

I love this simple, elegant cake from A Sweet Design:

5 years later, still looking good and going strong!

Mary Francis & Amanda Rae assisted me and have a few more images on their respective blogs (or will shortly).

Around the world in 80 days 03.16.2009

I love my life. I have a lot going on in the next couple of months. Between now and the first week of June, (that's the next 80 days... go ahead, count it) I'll be jetsetting around the globe for weddings, speaking engagements, workshops (teaching and attending), photographer get togethers, poker tournaments, photo field trips and a little fun and personal growth too. It's going to be a crazy schedule but I'm really looking forward to it. Check this out:

It all starts this weekend when my dad, bro-in-law Matt & I are road tripping out to AZ for some Spring Training action. I'll also be shooting a wedding with my good friend Mark and having a [ b ] School GTG Friday night at AZ88 (Phoenix photographers come on out! Details here.)

Right after that I'm off to Santa Fe for the Blend workshop. Super excited!

I'll be home for a week or so before heading to Canada for a speaking engagement, then popping down to Manhattan for an engagement session.

I fly home just in time for Easter then a few days later I am going to shoot a wedding in Cartegena, Colombia with some [ b ] Schoolers. So looking forward to this trip!

As soon as I get back to the states, I'm headed to Denver for a 1 day workshop (Denver photographer's GTG details to follow)

After that I'll be home for a week or so before Jessica Claire and I head over to Sweden for a couple of speaking engagements. We have 5 days in between our Sweden workshops, and we aren't going to make any plans or reservations, but instead just go with the flow and see where we end up. (That's not how we usually roll, I like to have checklists and confirmation numbers when I travel, so this will be quite an experience.)

Finally towards the end of May I am headed to Connecticut for a wedding, then the next morning I'm flying straight to Vegas for one of the preliminary events of the World Series of Poker and lastly it all ends on Caden's 4th birthday party at Disneyland the first week of June.

Whew! That's a lot on my plate and of course you can follow along to all of my adventures by continuing to watch this blog, follow me on Twitter or by friending me on Facebook. I am going to try to post as often as humanly possible.

Sneak Peak, Wedding at Spanish Hills 03.14.2009

Hey kids, while some photographers wait until they get home from the wedding to blog about their weddings, that's just not how I roll. Today I am shooting a wedding for a wonderful couple at the magnificent Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo for a sibling one of my past grooms. I'll have a few images posted in a bit, but you can check in every now and again for some video clips from my iPhone via Qik. Check back Tuesday for the rest of the images.
